Zambi Terms of Use

01Acceptance of these Terms

By downloading, installing, accessing or using Zambi — with or without an account — or by purchasing the Zambi Premium subscription, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you disagree with any condition, please do not use the service.

If you use Zambi on behalf of a terreiro, house, collective or other organization, you represent that you have authority to bind it to these Terms.

02What Zambi is

Zambi is an informational, educational, cultural and community app dedicated to African-matrix traditions in Brazil. It brings together:

• the liturgical calendar of the orixás and their days;
• prayers, songs, chants and audio, with their contexts;
• a reference library on Afro-Brazilian culture;
• a map of terreiros, houses of axé, shops and herb markets;
• pages for houses and terreiros, with a calendar of festivals, giras and gatherings, and conversations among members;
• a community feed with posts, likes and comments, and direct messages between users.

Some content and features are exclusive to Zambi Premium subscribers — see Zambi Premium subscription. The service is provided as is and will keep evolving: features may be added, changed or discontinued over time.

03Your account

Much of Zambi can be used without signing up. For the features that do require an account — such as posting to the feed, sending messages, joining houses, saving favorites and subscribing to Premium — the rules below apply:

• Provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
• The account is personal and non-transferable. You are responsible for everything that happens in it.
• Keep your password confidential. If you suspect unauthorized access, change it and let us know.
• People under 18 should only create an account with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. Children under 12 require specific guardian consent, under article 14 of the LGPD.

You may close your account whenever you want, in the app or on the website — see Suspension and termination.

04Zambi Premium subscription

Zambi Premium is an optional, auto-renewable subscription that unlocks exclusive content and features — such as premium prayers, songs and narrations. Non-subscribers keep using the rest of the app for free.

• Plans: Premium Monthly Subscription (1-month period) and Premium Annual Subscription (1-year period).
• Price: the price of each plan, in local currency and including applicable taxes, is shown on the app's plans screen and in the store before you confirm the purchase.
• Payment: payment is charged to your Apple ID (App Store) or Google account (Google Play) when you confirm the purchase. Zambi never receives or stores your card details.
• Automatic renewal: the subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, for the same length and at the plan's current price, unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your store account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends.
• Trial period: if a free trial or promotional price is offered, its terms are shown before purchase. When the trial ends, the subscription is charged automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours in advance. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you subscribe.
• Price changes: if a plan's price changes, the store will notify you in advance and, where the store's rules require it, ask for your consent before applying the new price.

How to manage or cancel: the subscription is managed by the store you bought it from. You can turn off automatic renewal at any time:

• iPhone or iPad: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Zambi (Apple's instructions).
• Android: Google Play app → profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Zambi (Google's instructions).

After you cancel, Premium access continues until the end of the period already paid for and is not renewed. Uninstalling the app or deleting your Zambi account does not cancel the subscription in the store — cancel it in the store settings as well to avoid further charges.

Restoring purchases: the subscription is linked to your Zambi account and to the store account used for the purchase. If you change devices or reinstall the app, sign in to the same account and use the restore purchases option on the plans screen.

Refunds: since payment is processed by Apple or Google, refund requests are made directly to the store under its own rules — on the App Store at reportaproblem.apple.com; on Google Play under the Google Play refund policy. This does not affect the right of withdrawal under article 49 of the Brazilian Consumer Protection Code; if you have trouble exercising it, write to rickfontes007@gmail.com and we will help.

The Premium catalogue may be expanded or reorganized over time. If a significant subscription feature is discontinued, we will give advance notice.

05Licence to use

We grant you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to use Zambi on devices you own or control, under these Terms and the usage rules of the store you downloaded the app from. This licence does not transfer ownership of the app or of its content to you.

Except where the law expressly allows it, you must not:

• copy, modify, translate or create derivative works of the app;
• reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source code;
• remove copyright notices, trademarks or credits;
• bulk-extract content using bots, scrapers or automation;
• circumvent subscription checks or redistribute Premium content;
• resell, sublicense, rent or commercially exploit the service;
• use the app to build a competing service or to train models on its collection.

06Rules of conduct

Zambi deals with the faith, ancestry and culture of a historically persecuted people. Respect is not optional here — in the feed, in comments, in direct messages and in house conversations. You must not use the service to:

• practice religious intolerance, ridicule traditions or incite persecution of terreiros, houses and practitioners;
• post hate speech, racism, racial slurs, threats, harassment or incitement to violence;
• post illegal, defamatory, obscene or sexually explicit content, or content that unduly exposes third parties;
• publish other people's personal data without authorization;
• send spam, chain messages, scams, malicious links or viruses, or pester people with unwanted messages;
• circumvent security measures, overload the infrastructure or access restricted areas;
• impersonate another person, a priest or a house of axé.

You can report posts directly in the app. Conduct of this kind may lead to content removal, suspension or permanent termination of the account, without prejudice to applicable legal measures. Reports can also be sent to rickfontes007@gmail.com — we review each case and reply within 15 days.

07Content you upload

Photos, text, posts, comments, messages and other materials you upload remain yours. You transfer ownership of nothing to us.

By uploading content you grant us only a free, non-exclusive and limited licence to store, reproduce and display that material inside Zambi, for the sole purpose of operating the service. This licence ends when you delete the content or delete your account.

Who sees what: your profile, your feed posts and your comments are visible to other Zambi users; direct messages are seen by you and the person you are talking to; and a house's conversations are seen by its members.

You represent and warrant that you hold the necessary rights over what you upload and that the material does not infringe third-party rights — including copyright, image and privacy rights. Photographs portraying other people require their consent.

We may remove, without prior notice, content that violates these Terms, the law or third-party rights. Rights holders who identify improper use may request takedown through our contact email.

08Intellectual property

The Zambi name, logo, source code, design, editorial organization, original text, narrations and illustrations are protected by intellectual property law and may not be used without prior written permission.

Songs, chants, prayers, myths and other expressions of oral tradition belong to the cultural heritage of terreiro communities. We reproduce this material for educational and preservation purposes, indicating origins and variations where they are known. No claim of exclusivity is made over the tradition itself.

If you spot an error, a wrong attribution or the use of protected material without permission, write to rickfontes007@gmail.com. We correct or remove the content as soon as the request is verified.

09Religious and cultural content

Zambi's content is informational, educational and documentary in nature. It does not replace the guidance of priests, priestesses, elders and the houses of axé, who are the legitimate authority on religious practice.

Traditions vary between nations, houses and regions: the dates, greetings, colors and fundamentals presented in the app represent one of several possible readings and may differ from what your house teaches. The teaching of your own house always prevails.

Nothing in the app constitutes medical, psychological, legal or financial advice. If you need it, please seek qualified professionals.

10Availability and changes to the service

We work to keep Zambi online and running well, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. The service may be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, provider failures, acts of God or force majeure.

We may change, suspend or discontinue features at any time. If a discontinuation is significant and affects your data or your subscription, we will give reasonable advance notice.

You are responsible for keeping the app updated. Older versions may stop working correctly.

11Third-party services and app stores

Zambi relies on third-party services to work — among them Supabase (account and database), Google Firebase (notifications), RevenueCat (subscription management), OpenStreetMap (maps) and the Google and Apple sign-in providers. Use of those services is also subject to each provider's own policies.

The app is distributed through Google Play and the App Store, and in-app purchases are processed by those stores. Those stores are not parties to these Terms and bear no responsibility for the service, although their own rules apply to installation, payment and any refunds.

Links to external websites, social networks and houses of axé are offered for convenience; we have no control over those destinations and are not responsible for their content.

12Additional terms for App Store downloads

If you obtained Zambi from Apple's App Store, the following terms also apply:

• These Terms are concluded between you and the developer of Zambi only, and not with Apple. The developer — not Apple — is solely responsible for the app and its content.
• The licence granted here is limited to using Zambi on Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the App Store Terms of Service.
• Apple has no obligation whatsoever to provide maintenance or support for the app. Support is provided by the developer through the contact email.
• If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price of the app, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app.
• The developer, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the app — including product liability claims, failure to conform to any legal or regulatory requirement, and consumer protection or privacy claims — as well as any claim that the app infringes a third party's intellectual property rights.
• You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a terrorist-supporting country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using the app — for example, those of your internet provider.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, will have the right to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.

For anything these Terms do not cover, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA) applies.

13Warranties and liability

Zambi is provided as is. We work hard on the accuracy and upkeep of the content, but we do not warrant that it is error-free or that it fits any particular person's specific purpose.

We are not responsible for content posted by other users in the feed, comments, messages or house pages, although we may remove it when it violates these Terms.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect damages, lost profits, data loss caused by a failure of your device, or decisions made solely on the basis of the app's content.

14Suspension and termination

You may close your account whenever you want, without giving a reason and without contacting support: in the app, go to the Eu (Me) tab → menu → Excluir conta (Delete account); or on the website, at www.zambi.com.br/conta.

Deletion permanently erases your profile and the content you uploaded from the server. The details are described in the Privacy Policy. Remember: deleting your account does not cancel your Zambi Premium subscription on the App Store or Google Play — cancel it in the store settings.

We may suspend or terminate access for anyone who violates these Terms, commits unlawful acts or puts other people or the integrity of the service at risk. Whenever possible we will explain the reason and give an opportunity to respond.

15Changes to these Terms

These Terms may be updated to keep up with changes in the service or in the law. The version in force is always published on this page, with the update date at the top.

Material changes will be announced prominently in the app or by email before they take effect. If you do not agree with the new version, simply cancel your subscription, if any, close your account and stop using the service.

16Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil.

Before taking any legal action, please try to resolve the matter directly with us at rickfontes007@gmail.com — most issues are settled that way. Consumers in Brazil may also use the consumidor.gov.br platform.

For the settlement of disputes, the courts of the consumer's domicile are elected, under article 101, I, of the Brazilian Consumer Protection Code. For non-consumer relationships, the courts of Salvador, Bahia, apply.
